Upon entering our office, our receptionist will greet you and welcome you as a member of the Hurst Chiropractic family. If you would like to save time on the first appointment you can find our initial paperwork on this website, otherwise, feel free to fill them out when you arrive.
Consultation and Examination
To begin, you will have a consultation with one of our doctors to discuss your health-related concerns and your health goals. Your first visit is designed for the doctor to learn more about you, your state of health, and expectations in order to provide the best care for you.
After your consultation, the doctor will perform a complete chiropractic examination including neurologic, orthopedic, postural, motion, and physical examinations. The doctor will gain valuable information regarding your condition and the health of your spine so that you have a better understanding of how chiropractic can help you. If necessary, the doctor may take X-rays or refer you for additional testing procedures. Nothing will be done in our office without your consent.
Your specific condition may require us to take x-rays to get a full perspective of your spinal health. We do not x-ray every patient that comes into our clinic as a new patient. On average, we take x-rays on a third to a half of our new patients. X-rays help us rule out more serious conditions or assist us in developing the most effective care plans for you. Most people are amazed once they see their x-rays and can often immediately identify their areas of stress and/or degeneration.
Report of Findings
Once the consultation and examination have been performed, the doctor will give you a report of findings to answer the three most popular questions:
After discussing with you your history and your goals, examining your spine, and reviewing any x-rays or tests, the doctor will discuss recommendations with you. If you have a condition that requires care with other providers, the doctor will tell you. If the doctor believes we can help you, we will recommend a treatment program to get you where you want to be. This report may be at the beginning of the second visit.
At the end of your first visit you will be adjusted—Chiropractic adjustments restore normal motion to the joints of the spine and improve the function of the nervous system. Most of our patients begin to see results from the very first adjustment and find this style of adjusting quite pleasant. Afterwards, the doctor will give you some recommendations for what you can do to help the process before your next appointment.
